The Starfleet Command series of games is where the 32nd Fleet was born. The 32nd Fleet no longer has an active squad in any of these games however we do still have some remaining members that continue to play these games in search of competition while wearing the 32nd Fleet uniform and conforming to the fleets rules and standards.

Many of the long time officers in the fleet would have never had the pleasure of meeting each other online if it had not been for the fleet and this series of online space combat simulation games. So the 32nd Fleet owes its existence to these games that we played back when many of us where on windows 95/98 and still gaming on 28.8/33.6/56k dial up modems which where top of the line at that time.

These are the games that brought the fleet and its members together and based on the ideals of star trek. They also gave our fleet a general rules and structure template that is still successful for us to this day in all games that the fleet participates in.

In Starfleet Command 2 and the Orion Pirates expansion pack the squads where as follows:

Federation, Klingon, Romulan, Hydran, Gorn, ISC, Lyran, and Mirak.

Each of these squads in Starfleet Command 2 where completely full with a normal compliment of about twenty-five officers each (not counting recruits waiting for an open rank slot in a squad).

In Starfleet Command 3 the squads where condensed as follows due to Activision going to only four races:

Federation, Klingon, Romulan, and Borg.

Many of our members who loved the series before it was changed in part three chose to remain in part two and subsequently retired from active duty in the fleet since they did not like the fact that not only where the choices of the race you could be taken down to four from eight but also that the controls and game play where made to be more simplistic which took a lot of the tactical and gamer talent part out of the game.

The Starfleet Command series died with Starfleet Command 3 since Activision never fully supported the game and released it with many problems. Eventually Activision stopped supporting the game altogether and there where no longer patches being made and production of game CD's where stopped. CBS and Paramount pictures then took Activision to court and stripped them of the star trek gaming license.

Since that time star trek gamers have been waiting for another good star trek game. We have seen our fair share of duds like Star Trek Legacy but hopefully Star Trek Online will be the good one that many of us have waited so long for.
